Backyard Summer Fun

This kid is a risk taker for sure!

He pretty much gives me a heart attack each and every day with close calls.

I told Elijah not to run over Kayl....this is him getting as close to him as humanly possible.

Elijah has been saying some pretty funny things lately. He was sitting on the potty and wanted to be left alone, so he told Joel to "Go get on the computer!" He usually tells me to "Get out" or "Go away." He is doing well potty training, he just likes his privacy apparently :) Whenever I come out of the bathroom he claps and yells "Good job Mommy!!" He LOVES dinosaurs! Like, obsessed. Kayl just turned one a week or so ago. He is so ready to walk..he is just too content crawling. He will stand by himself for minutes at a time, and has taken a step. He has the goofiest, mouth-full-of-teeth grin in the world. I just love him. He has 11 teeth, with another one coming through. Poor thing cut three molars in a week! That's it for now..just a little update on our little family :)

Bad Blogger

I know, I know...I am a LAME blogger these days! No excuses. I will get better, I promise! In the meantime, here is a picture of Joel and his boys. He needed an updated picture for business reasons, so we thought we'd incorporate the boys in a couple.

A morning in the life of Elijah and Kayl...

two brothers learning to play, annoy, hit, steal from, and love eachother. They really do... love eachother that is. They just play too rough sometimes(as most brothers do). Elijah's idea of fun is piling things on top of Kayl (blankets, toys, stuffed animals), to the point that we really can't leave them alone without checking on them every thirty seconds. He also likes to attack Kayl while he's not paying attention, playfully of course. The pictures below I took this morning. I love their dynamic, and can't wait to see how their relationship develops as they get older.

Elijah is not the culprit ALL of the time.

He even shares, unwillingly of course.
But before too long, he plans his attack on poor unsuspecting Kayl...

And another attack, this time with the teddy bear.

He uses him as a pillow.

And this picture perfectly sums up my life at the moment:)

More of...guess who

So, is anyone sick of pictures of Kayl yet?!?!?! If you are, then I'm sorry, because he is not going anywhere! I have kind of been using him lately, in a good way. I am really trying to get over my self-doubt when it comes to my photography. I feel like I have a long way to go before I get to where I really want to be. In the meantime, I am making no excuses in trying to better myself in this regard. I am really trying to challenge myself. I am trying out different locations, different lighting situations, different backgrounds for my mock indoor studio, etc. This can be challenging as I would like to be a solely "natural light photographer." This means that I work on location, with available light. I'm not too into studio posed photography, I think that anyone who wants that could go anwhere to get that done. There is something so much more organic about natural light. I am working on a logo, blog, and business cards which I may be asking your opinion on in the near future. I know it is weird but I really don't want to do it for money, it is just something that I really enjoy doing. I have definately realized that I want to try and stick to doing children/families more than anything. I think now that I have my own kids, I know more the kind of things that parents especially want captured in their pictures. So, if you know of anyone who is looking for a photographer(in progress), please let me know:) Here are a few pictures that I took of Kayl today, in some random alley. Also, it is definately a work in progress, and most of the pictures on there you have seen here already, but my photography blog is www.photographybyeden.blogspot.com Check back because hopefully it will look a lot more "professional" soon.
